According to sources from Homeland Security, a person who had been deported from Mexico and has a history of criminal activity is accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in Mississippi.
A 34-year-old individual, Filiberto Gonzalez, was arrested by the Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Department on August 12 at his residence for an alleged rape.
Gonzalez had entered the country at an undisclosed time and was apprehended by Mississippi authorities in 2012 for an assault, for which he was convicted, and a DUI in 2016, as per sources.
According to sources, he was deported by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in 2017 but managed to reenter the country at an undisclosed time.
Gonzalez is currently being held in the sheriff’s custody until his upcoming hearing on two charges of rape.
The details of Gonzalez’s entry into the US are still unknown.
The recent sexual assault is just one of many alleged sex crimes reportedly committed by migrants. During a recent two-week period, New York City experienced at least three reported crimes allegedly committed by migrants.
