An undocumented immigrant, described by police as elusive, has confessed to the abduction and sexual assault of a teenage girl at knifepoint in the vicinity of New Orleans.
Diego Rodriguez-Salvador, 23, was taken into custody on September 4th for the alleged abduction and assault of a 13-year-old girl. It is reported that he coerced her into his vehicle and transported her to his residence in Kenner, Louisiana, where the assault took place.
According to reports, Rodriguez-Salvador, an individual who entered the country without proper documentation, reportedly requested the company of his friend’s younger sister for a trip to a local store. A woman accepted a ride, but things took a terrifying turn when she realized they were going the wrong way. The driver, Rodriguez-Salvador, resorted to violence, attacking her with a knife. Afterward, he callously left her in her own neighborhood before fleeing into the darkness. This disturbing incident was reported by the Kenner Police Department.
Following the reported crime at approximately 7:45 p.m., Rodriguez-Salvador evaded police for a short period before authorities located a white 2013 Nissan Altima believed to be connected to the suspect. Authorities stated that the suspect was contacted by phone and willingly agreed to surrender before being apprehended.
According to local station WDSU, Rodriguez-Salvador has confessed to the crime, as stated by the police.
According to Kenner police Chief Keith Conley, there is limited information available about him, except for the fact that he is from Honduras and is in the country illegally. The exact time of his entry into the US remains undisclosed.
“Diego has undocumented status in the United States and detectives are working closely with Homeland Security Investigations to obtain any additional information that could assist in his identification or apprehension,” the Kenner Police Department said in a statement.
Charges have been filed against Rodriguez-Salvador for second-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape of a juvenile victim.
