19 arrested in Atlantic City drug and weapon crackdown

New Jersey’s Atlantic City. The Atlantic City Police Department said Wednesday that 19 people have been arrested and that drugs, guns, and other contraband have been seized as a consequence of a series of targeted law enforcement operations in Atlantic City.

The Florida, Bellevue, and Texas Avenues-focused programs were started in response to community complaints over drug use and problems with people’s quality of life. Suspects were taken into custody, two firearms were found, and large amounts of illegal substances, including 195 bags of heroin, 117 grams of cocaine, and five grams of methamphetamine, were seized.

When two people allegedly grabbed firearms in the Florida Avenue neighborhood, police may have stopped a shooting. They also intervened in multiple drug deals and an ongoing altercation. During the incident, officers confiscated the guns, detained the defendants, and seized an illegal dirt bike.

According to the government, these actions were carried out to combat persistent criminal behavior and enhance the neighborhood’s circumstances for businesses and people. Sergeants Daniel Arra and Christian Ivanov spearheaded the operation, which took place over several weeks and involved other officers.

Charges for the 19 arrests ranged from simple assault and firearm violations to drug possession and distribution. Yahsir Brown Sr., 18, of Pleasantville, was charged with drug and weapon violations; Genesis Silva, 26, of Atlantic City, was charged with money laundering; and Isaiah Brown, 20, of Philadelphia, was arrested on many counts of narcotics possession and distribution.

In response to community concerns, the targeted operations will continue, the Atlantic City Police Department stated.
