2 Duct-Taped Individuals Rescued by Police in Connecticut; 6 Florida Men Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping

Six individuals from Florida were taken into custody by the police for their alleged involvement in the rescue of two victims in what seemed to be a deliberate kidnapping incident on Sunday.

According to a news release from the Danbury Police Department, authorities were alerted to a disturbance near Clapboard Ridge Road on Sunday around 5:40 p.m. According to the police, a witness observed three males leaving a van and attacking another man. They then forced him into the van before quickly driving away.

Police reported that officers noticed the van on Clapboard Ridge Road and made an effort to halt it. However, the driver chose to accelerate and flee the scene. According to the authorities, the vehicle was later found nearby on Cowperthwaite Street.

According to authorities, the van contained two individuals who were discovered “bound with duct tape,” with one of them having been struck by a baseball bat. According to the police, both individuals were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, their injuries were not life-threatening.

Six individuals from Florida have been arrested and charged with serious offenses including first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, and reckless endangerment. They are:

  • Anthony Pena, 23,
  • Josue Romero, 26,
  • Ricardo Estrada, 21, and
  • Michael Rivas, 18

Borrero is also being charged with reckless driving, leading police on a pursuit, and evading responsibility. The bond for him has been set at $2,000,000, while the other individuals are being held on bonds of $1,000,000 each.

According to the police, the kidnapping was directed at a specific individual, although the precise motive remains unknown.
