22-year-old man fatally shot at Rock Creek Cemetery


WASHINGTON, DC — A fatal shooting at Rock Creek Cemetery on Saturday afternoon has left a 22-year-old man dead, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers from the Fourth District responded around 4:46 p.m. on November 9, 2024, to reports of gunfire in an area of the cemetery near the 5000 block of First Street NW. Upon arrival, officers discovered Brandon Ward, a Northwest DC resident, unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services attempted life-saving measures, but Ward was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not provided information about potential suspects, and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the shooting.
