The Phoenix Police Department arrested a woman after fentanyl was discovered in her luggage at Sky Harbor.
According to officials with the Phoenix Police Department, a woman was taken into custody after they discovered fentanyl in her suitcase.
According to a statement that was posted on the department’s X page (which was formerly known as Twitter), officials stated that the woman was on her way to Atlanta from Phoenix when the suspicious substances were discovered.
The lady who was detained was identified as Martisha Missouri Montgomery, who is 24 years old, according to the court documents that we acquired. However, the Phoenix Police Department did not identify the female suspect.
Investigators have determined that the event started to take place at approximately eleven o’clock at night on September 16th, when TSA employees received a notification that there were suspicious goods inside of a checked luggage during a screening.
“During further TSA inspection, six sealed bricks were located within the suitcase liner,” read a portion of the court documents. “The six packages appeared to be double sealed in food saver plastic vacuum bags, and wrapped in tape.”
During an interview conducted after Hurricane Maria, officials stated that the suspect responded to inquiries concerning personal information; however, she did not provide any responses when she was asked about the reason for her travel. A count of felony narcotic drug transportation has been brought against Montgomery, who has been placed in jail based on the allegations.
