4-year-old Revealed His Brother Died all Day while their Mother was There; Michigan Couple Arrested for Horrific Abuse

A tragic incident claimed the life of a young Michigan boy. Prosecutors have revealed unsettling details regarding the incident. The victim has been identified as Giovanni “Chulo” Jennings, a 6-year-old from Madison Heights.

Sadly, he passed away on July 31.

According to FOX 2 Detroit, Chulo’s 4-year-old brother revealed heartbreaking details during an interview with the investigators. He said to the investigators, “Chulo died all day and Danny (their mother’s boyfriend) was there.”

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald characterized the case as deeply disturbing, ranking among the most severe her office has encountered.

Elaina Rose Jennings, 25, of Madison Heights, is facing serious charges including murder, first-degree child abuse, and lying to a police officer in connection with the tragic incident involving Chulo’s mother. Daniel John Giacchina, 32, of Madison Heights, is facing multiple charges including murder, first-degree child abuse, lying to a police officer, possession of ammunition by a felon, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and felony firearm.

Officials said that at 2:34 p.m. on July 30, Jennings made a distress call to 911, reporting that her son was not breathing. The Madison Heights fire and police departments swiftly arrived at the scene of an incident in a mobile home park located in the 25000 block of Dequindre Road in Madison Heights. Chulo was discovered in an unresponsive state, with several injuries.

Chulo was taken to Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital and later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Michigan, according to officials. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, July 31.

According to the TV station, it has been determined that his death was the result of blunt force trauma and a perforated abdomen, which has been classified as murder. According to McDonald, he passed away following a prolonged period of confinement and mistreatment.

The report revealed numerous bruises and lacerations on Chulo’s body, even inside his mouth. According to the TV station, he was experiencing a bloated abdomen. It was discovered that he was kept in a pen with various restrictions, such as restraints to confine him, curtains to block his view, and a small wooden slat for sleeping. He faced consequences for his inappropriate actions, which involved attempting to consume liquids, relieve himself, and flee.

Jennings and Giacchina were not granted bond and were sent back to jail.

Committing murder is a serious crime that carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. First-degree child abuse is a serious offense that carries severe penalties, including life imprisonment or a lengthy term in prison.
