A Breach of Trust
After routinely abusing an 11-year-old child who was also a family acquaintance, Brooklyn Center resident Shayvon Bright, 24, was found guilty of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to court records, Bright started committing crimes when he was about eighteen years old, taking advantage of a very intimate living situation in which he shared a house with his mother and the victim’s mother.
Patterns of Persistent Abuse
A horrific account of recurrent sexual abuse was revealed through testimony. During the time they lived together, the child reported experiencing abuse virtually daily, usually after she got home from school and they were by themselves.
Bright would say to investigators, “You know what time it is,” to indicate that an assault was about to occur.
