Louis, Saint A 20-year-old male from Venice, Illinois, entered a not guilty plea to federal charges linked to a carjacking and other violent offenses in the Tower Grove East area in September when he appeared in U.S. District Court in St. Louis on Monday.
On November 20, Harry Moore was charged with carjacking and possessing and brandishing a handgun in order to commit a violent crime. According to the allegations, Moore allegedly took a 2022 Subaru Outback at gunpoint on September 9, 2024, and demanded that the victim unlock their phone and give the PIN to their ATM card. Shortly after, he allegedly used the information to make a cash withdrawal at a petrol station.
Court filings state that Moore and two other people were in a stolen Cadillac CTS when the carjacking occurred. Surveillance footage purportedly showed him shooting at a man close to Ballpark Village in downtown St. Louis while driving the stolen Subaru. Given the serious nature of the accusations, prosecutors have filed a detention motion to keep Moore in custody pending trial.
Moore may be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison and fined $250,000 for the carjacking offense if found guilty. The obligatory punishment for the firearm crime ranges from seven years to life in prison. Matthew Martin, an assistant U.S. attorney, is in charge of the prosecution.
The FBI, the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department all looked into the matter. It is a component of the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods program, which seeks to lower gun violence and violent crime by bringing together law enforcement and community partners.
