Rockville, Maryland. According to police and court documents, an FBI special agent who was previously cleared of attempted murder in a well-known Metro train incident has been accused of sexually abusing two women. The FBI suspended the agent, Eduardo Valdivia, until the investigation’s conclusion after he was arrested in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Monday.
The FBI told WUSA, a CBS station, that it takes accusations of wrongdoing and criminal offenses very seriously. We are working closely with the Montgomery County Police Department and are aware of the recent arrest of an FBI employee. The FBI is unable to comment at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
Valdivia was cleared of attempted second-degree murder and other charges in connection with an off-duty shooting on a Metro subway train outside Washington, D.C., in 2020. The arrest occurs about two years after that. Following what the authorities described as a verbal dispute, Valdivia shot and injured a guy during that event. Valdivia said he acted in self-defense, and a Maryland jury acquitted him of all charges, including reckless endangerment and first-degree assault.
Police from the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority claimed that the injured man was in stable condition after the incident. After being detained for a few weeks following the incident, Valdivia willingly turned himself in to local police and was freed on his own recognizance without the prosecutors’ protests.
As the Montgomery County Police Department looks into the claims of sexual assault, Valdivia is now facing additional legal difficulties. Additional information regarding the purported instances has not been made public.
