NEWARK, N. In order to identify a person who was seen on surveillance film breaking into a car and taking belongings, including an employee ID badge, on Columbia Street last week, authorities are requesting the public’s assistance.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., the suspect broke the front passenger window of a car parked in the 40 block of Columbia Street on November 18, 2024, at around 10 p.m.
Police are asking anyone with knowledge to come forward after surveillance footage showed the person. The Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line, 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477), is an anonymous way to submit tips.
Director Miranda stressed that all tips will be kept private and that information that results in an arrest could earn rewards. The inquiry is still under progress.
