Police say a Hackensack man was arrested and charged following an armed robbery investigation




New Jersey’s Hackensack. According to police, a Hackensack man was taken into custody Monday in relation to an early-morning robbery that occurred close to Fair Street and Lodi Street.

After a Hackensack Police Department investigation, Hudhaifa Johnson of Hackensack was charged with robbery and other firearms violations. A 24-year-old male from Monroe Township told police that a suspect who appeared to be armed had stolen his jewelry and personal goods, leading to the arrest. The crime was reported at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday.

Officers searched the area first but were unsuccessful, and the suspect left on a moped. After the case was turned over to Detective Matthew DeBonis, Patrol Officers Roselys Salas and Angelo Vicale captured Johnson on Essex Street later that night at around 8 p.m. According to police, Johnson was found in possession of brass knuckles and other items thought to be robbery proceeds.

Johnson faces charges of unauthorized firearm possession, first-degree robbery, and restricted people weapons crime. After being taken to Bergen County Jail, he is being detained until his first court appearance.

According to the department, the defendant is assumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and these charges are only an accusation.
