Georgia deputy arrested for DUI after attempting to direct imaginary traffic at empty school

Last Monday, police arrested Lizella, a GAA Georgia sheriff’s deputy and former Deputy of the Year, for reportedly trying to control traffic outside an elementary school while inebriated.

Board of Education officials found Deputy Garrison Page, who had only been with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for eight days, at Skyview Elementary School in Lizella last Tuesday. The incident report, which NBC station WMGT was able to obtain, claims that Page was standing unsteadily and slurring his speech while operating a police car while wearing plain clothes.

Page allegedly said, “None of your business,” in response to questions concerning his behavior and whether he need medical assistance. Even though there were no automobiles in the area, officers observed that he once left to stand in the road.

According to the incident report from the 19th, Page, a former law enforcement officer from Bibb County, was clearly intoxicated when speaking with other officers. He was charged with driving under the influence and taken into custody at the scene.

Following the arrest, Page’s employment situation has not been publicly discussed by Houston County Sheriff’s Office officials.
