Nothing compares to the sound of Christmas carols, a warm cup of mulled wine, and the cold Minnesota winter air. Once again, it’s Christmas market season, that enchanted time of year! The new Minneapolis Christkindl Market offers families in the Twin Cities a new place to enjoy the festive spirit. Don’t miss the brand-new movie that my husband Jack and I created at the bottom of this post if you’re planning a trip this month; it takes you on a tour of the top Christmas markets in the US!

A New Holiday Tradition in the North Loop

On November 22, the Minneapolis Christkindl Market opened at North Loop Green, which is directly across from Target Field at 350 North 5th St. From Friday through Sunday until December 22, this European-style Christmas market will be open.

It creates a vibrant, urban holiday scene that echoes the allure and joyous spirit of classic European markets, all set against the backdrop of the city’s busy downtown.

European Delights and Local Flavor

Visitors can find a variety of cuisine and handcrafted products at the market, along with live music and entertaining kid-friendly activities. The market offers everything from distinctive handmade handicrafts to delectable seasonal snacks, with 30 local sellers representing 15 different nationalities.

Make plans to savor traditional European cuisine, such as Turkish Lokma, the rich and savory Swiss raclette, and Burbach’s well-known German potato pancakes, among many others. It’s an event designed to honor Minnesota’s thriving community’s local workmanship as well as the season’s global appeal.

A Growing Holiday Market Scene in the Twin Cities

A burgeoning tradition of holiday markets throughout the Twin Cities is being joined by the Minneapolis Christkindl Market (see their website here).

While the Dayton’s Market at Nicollet Mall continues its festive run through December 28 (more infohere), St. Paul’s Best Christmas Market welcomes guests at Union Depot starting on November 29 (more infohere). Families can enjoy the winter wonderland that is created by these events, each of which offers a different interpretation of the Christmas mood.

It’s evident that these joyous events are about more than simply dining and shopping as guests wander through the marketplaces, sipping hot chocolate and taking in the holiday spirit. It’s about honoring community, embracing the warmth of the season, and making memories with those you care about. Christmas Markets provide the ideal getaway from the winter cold, bringing a bit of European charm right to the Twin Cities, whether you’re looking for unusual presents or just taking in the festive mood. Happy Christmas!
