Fatal trailer fire under investigation in Elkton

ELKTON, Maryland. Firefighters found a victim’s corpse inside a trailer late Wednesday night, sparking an inquiry into a fatal trailer fire in the 1930 block of East Old Philadelphia Road.

Emergency personnel from the Singerly Fire Company, North East Fire Company Inc., and other nearby agencies were called in after the fire was reported at approximately 9:00 p.m. After escaping the fire, one person informed emergency personnel that another person was still inside the trailer.

Firefighters found one victim’s remains after putting out the fire. Authorities have not disclosed any other information on the escaped individual, nor have they disclosed the identify of the deceased.

K9 Blondie and deputy state fire marshals are still on the site to investigate the fire’s origin. Investigators are collecting evidence and analyzing the events leading up to the death.
