Outrage and incredulity have been aroused by the shocking discovery, as the parents are charged with not only consuming illicit substances but also carelessly putting their helpless child in danger.
Juvenile s Outcry Sparks Investigation
When a courageous young person came forward and confided in a Child Protection Worker back in August, the alarming scenario was first made public. The young individual revealed that Shelley Bush, 21, and Jonathan Lyons, 25, had allegedly used cocaine before abandoning a child under their care.
This startling charge started a series of events that would eventually reveal the child’s tragic exposure.
Damning Drug Test Results
Authorities wasted little time in setting up the collection of hair follicle samples from the threatened child later that same month. The findings presented an unquestionably bleak picture.

The defendants first appeared in court on Wednesday, November 27, and they are scheduled to return to Freeborn County Court on December 12.
