Erie declares snow emergency, begins towing vehicles blocking roadways

ERIE, PennsylvaniaIn order to guarantee that snow plows and emergency vehicles can function properly, the Erie Police Department has declared a snow and ice emergency and has begun towing cars that are blocking roads.

Vehicles obstructing access will be towed, authorities said Sunday morning. Owners are asked to check the status of their vehicle by calling the department’s non-emergency line at (814) 870-1125.

To acquire release documentation, towed automobiles must be brought to the Erie Police Department headquarters at 626 State St., entering through the West 7th and Peach St. entrance, and presenting a valid photo ID. After that, owners will be instructed to pick up their cars at the specified impound facility.

Although officials have stressed the significance of maintaining routes clear for public safety, they have not given an estimated time for when road clearing operations will end.
