Delaware man arrested after police chase uncovers drugs, firearm, and fake license plate

DELAMAR, DE.Christian Cole, 30, of Frederica, was taken into custody by Delaware State Police after a fast-paced pursuit early on Sunday morning that resulted in the finding of cocaine, a gun, and a fake license plate.

A trooper saw a BMW X5 speeding and weaving along Old Beach Road with only one working headlight at roughly 12:30 in the morning, which sparked the incident. The pursuit came to an end on West Front Street when the automobile stopped in front of a house after attempts to stop it were disregarded.

Despite repeated orders from the trooper, Cole, the only person in the car, initially refused to get out, according to the police. He finally complied, but not before resisting arrest and was taken into custody.

During a car check, a big baggie containing what seemed to be marijuana was found on the passenger seat. Upon closer examination, there were drug paraphernalia, a loaded 9mm handgun, and about 117.48 grams of marijuana. Additionally, authorities found that the BMW had a phony license plate and was unregistered.

According to authorities, Cole is charged with a number of offenses, including narcotics possession, resisting arrest, and firearms crimes.

Police said they found cocaine, a loaded weapon, and an unregistered vehicle during a routine traffic stop that evolved into a pursuit.
