DWI checkpoint scheduled for Mount Olive next weekend

New Jersey’s Mount Olive. A Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) checkpoint will be held in Mount Olive throughout the weekend of December 6–8, 2024, according to law enforcement officials. The Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office collaborated on the project.

The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, which promotes sobriety tests in towns around Morris County, provided funding for the checkpoint. Through September 2025, the grant—which aims to decrease impaired driving—will remain in effect.

Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, and Mount Olive Police Chief Michael Spitzer emphasized the significance of these initiatives, pointing out that distracted and intoxicated driving continue to pose serious risks to public safety.

With prior public warning, the prosecutor’s office has planned to continue coordinating similar operations in communities around the county. According to officials, checkpoints are a useful instrument for deterring risky driving practices and safeguarding the public.
