Ohio man pleads guilty to stalking singer at her Pennsylvania home

Pennsylvania’s Greensburg. According to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli, an Ohio man who was charged with persistently following a singer at her home in Murrysville entered a guilty plea on Monday to two counts of stalking and defiant trespassing.

On May 21, 2024, Anthony Carpenter of Rutland, Ohio, was taken into custody by Murrysville Police after they arrived at the victim’s home to investigate a stalking incident that was underway. Despite the absence of any obvious trespassing signs, police claimed that Carpenter, an ardent fan, had visited the house several times and was seen wandering around it on security footage.

Investigators say Carpenter wrote the victim, who was in a popular band, a series of letters in which he declared his love for her and that he would not stop until he was with her. After Carpenter was spotted trespassing on her property in April, the victim filed charges. When police discovered him sleeping in Chambers Park a few days later, he confessed that he had gone there to declare his love for the victim.

Since his arrest, Carpenter has been held without being granted bail. On December 2, he received credit for time served when he was granted parole by Common Pleas Judge Timothy Krieger. Carpenter’s release requires him to return to Ohio and forbids him from getting in touch with the victim, her family, or going to their home.
