North Carolina mom arrested after allegedly leaving six-week-old baby in car while working at McDonald’s

Raleigh, North Carolina.A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody on Saturday after authorities claimed she exposed her six-week-old kid to temperatures of up to 40 degrees by leaving the child unbuckled in a car with the engine running as she worked her shift at a McDonald’s restaurant.

According to police warrants acquired by local media, Nikita Jones is charged with both misdemeanor child abuse and felony intentional child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. Additionally, authorities claimed that Jones had hit the baby in the face the day before, causing noticeable scratches, bruises, and swelling around the baby’s eyes.


When Raleigh police were called to the McDonald’s parking lot on November 21, they discovered the newborn inside the unattended car. It is unclear how long the baby had been left in the car, which was turned off at the time, according to the warrants.

Jones is suspected of striking the youngster on November 20th, allegedly causing injuries that were still visible the next day, according to the claims of physical abuse. No information has been released regarding the child’s present state or the person who notified authorities of the issue.

Jones was arrested and detained at the Wake County Detention Center. She is currently being held on a $5,000 misdemeanor bond and a $50,000 secured bond for the felony accusation. She will appear in court for the felony arraignment on December 10 and the misdemeanor charge hearing on December 19.
