Greensburg, Pennsylvania David Stone, a 62-year-old Pike County resident, was convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl at Westmoreland County’s Keystone State Park. On December 4, 2024, Nicole W. Ziccarelli, the district attorney for Westmoreland County, announced the conviction.
Following a trial that ended with a unanimous jury verdict, Stone was found guilty of indecent assault and corrupting of minors. The victim, who was 13 at the time, Stone, and his wife were camping in the area when the event happened in June 2020. The victim, who is now 17 years old, testified that Stone tried to direct her hands toward his crotch area while inappropriately touching her inside a camper.
When the victim told child welfare officials about the abuse in 2021, the matter became public knowledge. Stone’s conviction brought some measure of justice to the young girl’s trauma, which was brought to light during the court procedures.
Stone has previously dealt with legal matters of this kind. A troubling pattern of behavior is also evident in the additional accusations he faces in Tioga County for allegedly improperly touching another young girl in 2008.
District Attorney Ziccarelli thanked Assistant District Attorney Leo Ciaramitaro and the Pennsylvania State Police for their hard work in the case’s prosecution. “We will vigorously pursue justice to protect our children, and this conviction sends a strong message that such acts will not be tolerated,” Ziccarelli said.
Within the next ninety days, Stone will be sentenced; the jury’s decision will determine Stone’s penalty.
