Middle-Aged Florida Man Hid Drugs in His Mouth During Police Raid; Died from Apparent Overdose Authorities

A tragic incident occurred in Florida when a man became unwell and ultimately lost his life after attempting to conceal several bags of drugs in his mouth, as reported by the authorities.

A man named Cornell McKinney, aged 54, was reported to have become unresponsive on Wednesday, Aug. 21, while being held with four others outside a suspected drug house in DeLand, as stated by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities were present to carry out a search warrant as part of an ongoing drug investigation, according to an official statement released by the office. Throughout the investigation, McKinney remained uncooperative with detectives, leading them to suspect that he had ulterior motives, possibly involving the concealment or ingestion of drugs, according to deputies.

McKinney repeatedly declined to cooperate when detectives requested him to open his mouth. Authorities called paramedics when McKinney refused to remove the object from his mouth. He lost consciousness shortly after.

“Fire personnel began life-saving measures and recovered three plastic baggies from McKinney’s mouth/throat, two of which contained suspected heroin/fentanyl and crack cocaine,” deputies said.

According to deputies, he was transported to a hospital where he passed away. An autopsy is currently pending and the case is still under investigation, according to authorities.
