Lakewood woman critically injured in Howell crash, authorities investigating

HOWELL, New Jersey. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Thursday that authorities are looking into a car crash that left a 45-year-old pedestrian critically injured on US Route 9 in Howell Township on Tuesday night.

At at 5:17 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Lanes Mill Road and US Route 9 after receiving reports of a person being struck. According to an initial inquiry, the pedestrian was struck close to the intersection by a female car who was heading north in the left lane of Route 9.

The pedestrian, who lived in Lakewood, was sent to a nearby hospital due to potentially fatal injuries. Officials said the motorist stayed at the scene after the crash.

The Howell Township Police Department, the Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office are still investigating the incident. Additional information regarding the crash’s circumstances has not been released by authorities.
