Man charged in October fatal shooting in Wicomico County




SALISBURY, M.D. Maryland State Police said Friday that a 20-year-old male has been taken into custody and charged in relation to a gunshot death that took place in Wicomico County in October.

Charges against Princess Anne resident Jermaine Wilson include attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree murder, and several other related felonies. The Caroline County Detention Center is where he is being detained.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on October 28, 2024, the shooting took place. Upon arriving to the 800 block of West Road in Salisbury, troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack discovered 32-year-old Tevin Mumford with gunshot wounds. After being taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, Mumford was declared deceased.

Ekoye Emmanuel Spates, a 33-year-old Salisbury resident, was the second victim hurt in the incident and was treated at Christiana Hospital in Delaware.

With support from the Criminal Enforcement Division Eastern Region, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is spearheading the current investigation. Additional information regarding the shooting’s circumstances and motive has not been made public by the authorities.
