Newark man arrested for vehicular assault and robbery at Shell gas station




Newark, Del. John Arce, 31, of Newark, was arrested by Delaware State Police on several criminal charges following a robbery and vehicle attack at a Shell gas station earlier this week.

The incident happened on December 4, 2024, at around 6:45 p.m., when a red automobile driving fast through the East Chestnut Hill Road gas station parking lot struck a 38-year-old man. The culprit struck the victim, got out of the vehicle, took the man’s money, and ran away. The person was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering severe injuries.

Arce, a victim’s relative, was named as the suspect by investigators. Arce turned himself in at Troop 2 on December 6 and was charged with reckless endangering, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, and possession of a lethal weapon while committing a felony.

Arce is being jailed at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $185,000 cash bond after being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11.
