WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PAA When a grandmother’s body was discovered days after she fell into a deep pit, the search for her tragically took a fatal turn. When it happened, 64-year-old Elizabeth Pollard was looking for her cat, Pepper. Her family and the community are in mourning following the tragic tragedy.
Disappearance Sparks Search Efforts
In Unity Township, Pennsylvania, Pollard was last saw on Monday night outside the Union Restaurant on Marguerite Road. Pollard and her 5-year-old granddaughter had drove to the location in search of the family’s cat, according to Pennsylvania State Police. When Pollard failed to come home, her family became worried and filed a missing person’s report at around one in the morning on Tuesday.
Early on Tuesday morning, police searched the area and found Pollard’s vehicle behind the eatery. Inside the car, her granddaughter was discovered chilly but unhurt. Officers found a new sinkhole nearby, only 15 to 20 feet away from the vehicle.
Reporters were informed by Trooper Stephen Limani, Although it was roughly the size of a manhole cover, the pocket underneath is much bigger. The hole was around thirty feet deep, with trash at the bottom, according to cameras inserted into it.

Authorities declared on Wednesday night that they no longer anticipated finding Pollard alive while search operations proceeded. Four days after the initial search, her body was found on Friday morning. Responders were still trying to retrieve her body, Trooper Limani verified the sobering news.
