Pedestrian killed in crash on North Dupont Highway in New Castle




NEW CASTLE, Del.A pedestrian was killed in a deadly crash on North Dupont Highway late Saturday night, and Delaware State Police are looking into the incident.

A 44-year-old man who had entered the road north of Christiana Road was struck by a Toyota Tacoma moving south in the right lane on December 7 at around 11:16 p.m. The person, dressed in dark attire, stepped into the truck’s direction of travel, according to the police.

After being taken to a neighboring hospital, the man, who lived in New Castle, passed away from his wounds. His name has not been made public by authorities until his family has been notified.

The Tacoma’s driver, a 38-year-old Smyrna resident, was unharmed in the crash. For over two hours, North Dupont Highway’s southbound lanes were blocked while police cleared the area and conducted their investigation.

No charges have been brought as of yet, and the crash is still being investigated.
