Five Suspects Charged After Botched Home Burglary and High-Speed Chase in New Jersey

Authorities have reported that five individuals have been charged in connection with an unsuccessful home burglary in Franklin Lakes. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when two suspects attempted to escape from the police in a getaway vehicle, which unfortunately flipped over.

In the early hours of the morning, a homeowner on Birch Road made a startling discovery – two individuals inside her house. Understandably alarmed, she immediately contacted emergency services for assistance. According to Police Captain Robert Grassi, upon the arrival of the authorities, a white 2016 Ford Fusion was observed speeding away, prompting a pursuit.

The Fusion traveled south for approximately two miles before it overturned on Russell Avenue in Wyckoff. Franklin Lakes Police Officer Stephanie Cestaro apprehended two suspects with assistance from Wyckoff police. The two individuals were transported to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for assessment before being transferred to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officers from multiple towns descended upon the Birch Road neighborhood in search of additional suspects, utilizing a drone and a highly trained K9 unit. After being spotted by Franklin Lakes Police Chief Mark McCombs on nearby Glen Place, two individuals were apprehended by the police when they attempted to flee. According to authorities, one of the individuals in question was found to be in possession of a firearm.
