A woman was hurt and a man was taken into custody after what appeared to be a routine door-to-door visit swiftly turned into a violent gunshot.

Man Found Knocking on Doors

Officers from the Golden Valley Police Department were called to the 5200 block of Circle Down just before 9 p.m. on Thursday after receiving reports that a guy had been knocking on neighbors’ homes.

Police quickly put the man into jail after discovering him, who looked to be under the influence of drugs. After that, he was sent to a nearby hospital to receive care.

Shooting Victim Identifies Suspect

In the meantime, a woman who had been shot in the leg was transported to North Memorial Health-Maple Grove. While at a friend’s residence, the woman reported to the police that she had been shot. She subsequently identified the shooter as the man who was apprehended by police.

The woman is anticipated to recover from the event, as her injuries were deemed to be non-life-threatening.

Suspect Charged with First-Degree Assault

The man was charged with first-degree assault and put into the Hennepin County Jail after being discharged from the hospital. Police are still investigating the shooting’s circumstances and trying to identify the attacker’s motivation.
