Pedestrian killed in early-morning crash on Capital Beltway in Montgomery County




Maryland’s Montgomery County Maryland State Police (MSP) said that early Tuesday morning, a car on the Capital Beltway struck and killed a pedestrian.

The event happened on the inner loop of I-495 East close to University Boulevard at approximately 3:30 in the morning. According to preliminary investigations, the pedestrian was struck by a Ford car while they were crossing the highway.

At the scene, the pedestrian—whose identity has not yet been made public—was declared dead. The Ford driver stayed on the scene after the collision, according to MSP.

As the state police investigation continues, a number of lanes on the inner loop that had been closed during the investigation were reopened by 7:30 a.m.
