Trenton, New Jersey. In a contentious political discussion sparked by an enigmatic fleet of drones off the coast of New Jersey, gubernatorial candidate Joe Rullo has warned of possibly disastrous consequences and criticized state and federal officials for what he said are inadequacies in protecting airspace. Local leaders have responded sharply to the situation, with some calling for swift military action to locate the drones’ source.
Americans in New Jersey are fortunate that these drones were not equipped with weapons, or worse, weapons of mass destruction, according to Rullo.
He claimed that everything might have been over by now. What if they are merely trying to gauge our reaction? According to that response, we won’t take any action and it’s fair play. The world is observing and recognizing our inability to protect our nation.
He claimed that if the information from Congressman Chris Smith is accurate, it is horrifying.
“Shoot down the 50 drones and ask questions later if they aren’t from the federal government, as they have confirmed, and they are following Coast Guard ships,” Rullo said in a statement.
He suggested that the drones might have been a serious threat, drawing comparisons to the surprise strikes on Pearl Harbor and 9/11.
“We could have had a terror attack like never seen on American soil if these were armed,” he continued.
Governor Phil Murphy attempted to allay public anxieties by downplaying the danger that the drones posed. Murphy stated that the public is not at risk from the drones. He did not go into detail about the origin or intent of the unpiloted planes, which have been seen following Coast Guard and military ships.
But others are also voicing concerns. According to Congressman Chris Smith, he thinks the drones are foreign-made and may have been flown from a ship based off the coast of New Jersey.
A dozen drones tracked a U.S. Coast Guard ship this week, according to Smith, who spent the night in Island Beach with local officials and coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies.
Doug Steinhardt, the former chairman of the New Jersey GOP, demanded that the military move quickly to identify the drones.
Steinhardt declared, “Blow one out of the sky,” adding that the matter required openness and prompt resolution.
Gaps in coordination between federal and state aviation authorities have also been brought to light by the mystery.
Rullo further criticized the Biden and Murphy administrations for their “sleep at the wheel” approach to security, saying, “This is a big fail for state and federal [authorities] on airspace planning and aviation rules with drones.”
Although there have been no documented mishaps as a result of the drone activity, officials and locals alike are nevertheless concerned about the origin and intent of the drones.
“It’s not over,” Rullo stated. We have not taken any action to protect our nation from the drones that are still in the air. The entire globe is observing. We have already failed the test if this is a top-secret federal test or anything, such as someone testing our reaction.
According to Rullo, the fact that a drone stopped a medical helicopter from landing to pick up a patient ought to have been sufficient enough to deter them immediately.
According to Rullo, if I had been governor, I would have immediately sent out our National Guard’s surface-to-air troops to guard our coastline. Have 9/11 and Pearl Harbor taught us nothing? What if they are distributing gadgets across the state? We should see this as a clear and present risk since it has the potential to be harmful.
