Atlantic City man arrested in connection with stabbing on Atlantic Avenue




New Jersey’s Atlantic City.The Atlantic City Police Department said Tuesday that a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody in relation to a stabbing that happened on Atlantic Avenue last week.

On December 2, 2024, at around 8:35 a.m., police were called to the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue in response to a report of a man who had been stabbed. The 45-year-old man, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was sent to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.

The suspect left the area in a gray car, investigators concluded. Detectives used surveillance film to identify the vehicle and disseminate its details after a concerned citizen gave authorities a picture of the suspect.

Officer Matthew Crosby found the suspect’s car in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue at 2:40 p.m. that same day. After leaving a nearby home, the suspect—who was later identified as Luis Martinez-Colon of Atlantic City—was apprehended without incident.

The charges against Martinez-Colon include unauthorized possession of a weapon, aggravated assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Within hours after the event, a stabbing suspect was identified and taken into custody thanks to the prompt actions of Atlantic City police.
