CAMDEN, DELAMAR. Authorities said Thursday that an 18-year-old Magnolia male had been taken into custody by Delaware State Police after he allegedly threatened violence against Caesar Rodney High School earlier this week.
The event started on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, when the high school’s School Resource Officer, who works at 239 Old North Road, received a threat via text message and social media. In order to protect students and employees, the danger led to an increase in the number of police enforcement officers on campus.
Malik Cooper was found to be the threat’s perpetrator by investigators, who also secured an arrest warrant for him. Cooper was charged with felony terroristic threats for willfully ignoring the school’s safety and security after turning himself in at Troop 3 on Wednesday, December 11.
Cooper was freed on his own recognizance after being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2.
The public was reassured by the police that there was no imminent threat to the school and that staff and student safety was still their top priority.
