Pedestrian critically injured in Howell Township crash, investigation underway

New Jersey’s Howell Township.Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Thursday that authorities are looking into a car-versus-pedestrian collision in Howell Township that left a 45-year-old woman with potentially fatal injuries.

Around 5:17 p.m. on Tuesday, the collision happened close to the intersection of Lanes Mill Road and US Route 9. An initial examination indicates that the pedestrian was struck as she approached the junction by a female car in the left lane of Route 9 heading north.

After being taken to a nearby hospital, the victim—who was described as a Lakewood resident—is undergoing treatment for serious injuries. The vehicle’s driver stayed on the scene and assisted the police.

The Howell Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office are still looking into the crash’s circumstances.
