BENSALEM, Pennsylvania. Three suspects, including a minor, were taken into custody by police Thursday night after they pursued a stolen automobile from a carjacking in Philadelphia through Bensalem Township. During the arrests, police found three guns, including a loaded ghost gun.
Around 8:13 p.m., Bensalem police were notified by an electronic license plate reader that a white 2020 Toyota Corolla with Pennsylvania license plates was heading west on Street Road. Police said the car was reported stolen the day before at gunpoint during a carjacking in Philadelphia.
The car sped quickly into the Franklin Commons Apartments when officers found it close to Hulmeville Road and Park Avenue. Four suspects got out of the car and started to run. After a short pursuit, a 16-year-old Philadelphia motorist was captured and discovered in possession of a loaded Polymer ghost gun with an extended magazine. Among the many counts he faces include driving without a license, evading and dodging police, and firearms violations. The Edison Juvenile Facility received him.
Following short foot pursuits, two further suspects were also taken into custody: Philadelphia residents Sincere Bennett, 19, and Malik Moore Ward, 23. Bennett was charged with receiving stolen property, firearms violations, and other offenses after it was discovered that he had a black Beretta 9mm handgun in his backpack. A $350,000 bail was imposed for him. Similar charges were brought against Ward, who resisted arrest; he was granted $250,000 bail. They were both sent to Bucks County Prison on remand.
A fourth suspect managed to get away with it. A silver Taurus 9mm handgun was later discovered by officers in the vicinity of the suspects’ escape. Philadelphia Police have received information from Bensalem Police to help with their ongoing investigation into robberies and carjackings.
