Eastern Shore Drug-Trafficking Ring Indicted

Annapolis, Maryland A concerted investigation by several law enforcement agencies resulted in the indictment of 39 people in relation to an Eastern Shore drug trafficking organization.

The Maryland Department of State Police, the Fruitland Police Department, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, and the Drug Enforcement Administration were all involved in the secret operation, which was started by Wicomico Narcotics in the spring. Participants in the drug trafficking enterprise in Wicomico County were ultimately indicted. More than two local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies joined the investigation, which focused on illicit drug activity in Wicomico, Dorchester, and Baltimore counties, including the use of cocaine and fentanyl.

Wicomico Narcotics and the DEA Salisbury Regional Office carried out many search and seizure warrants in the targeted counties in August. Over 2,500 grams of suspected cocaine, almost 30 grams of fentanyl, other illegal substances, fourteen guns, and four cars used for drug transportation were found as a result of these operations.
