The prosecutor in a well-known murder case concerning a mother from Bullitt County and her two young sons has decided to recuse themselves from the case.
Mediation talks were scheduled to commence Thursday morning in the Tiffanie Lucas case.
Lucas faces murder charges following a tragic incident where her two young sons, Maurice and Jayden, were discovered with gunshot wounds to their heads inside their home last November, as reported by the police.
During the investigation, the detective noted that when speaking with Lucas, she mentioned that the incident was unintentional. She also mentioned that she felt manipulated through Facebook and other means, leading her to take the actions she did.
On Thursday, the family of the boys expressed their disappointment as they were informed that only four of them were allowed to participate in the discussions. When the remaining members requested to wait outside the room, they were denied by the prosecutor.

Bobbie Baker, a concerned aunt, expressed her doubts to Taylor, “I said, ‘Why? This is court. This is a public hearing, it’d be the same if they went to court and they chose to sit in the hallway.'”
Baker stated that Taylor claimed it was not his decision, but rather the sheriff’s decision.
Following a brief exchange, Prosecutor Bailey Taylor informed WLKY that he had chosen to remove himself from the case. He did not provide a specific explanation.
It seems that the trial date set for December will probably be postponed.
Grandmother Catherine Baker expressed her frustration, stating, “I feel like we’re not getting justice.”
“I’m hurt. I’m pissed. I just want justice for them,” Bobbie Baker said.
Although the future course of action is uncertain, Lucas is currently incarcerated with a $2 million bond.
