Stray dog survives two car accidents in New Jersey, recovering at local animal orphanage

VOORHEES, New Jersey. Thanks to prompt rescuers and emergency veterinarians, a dog that was hit by two different cars in Merchantville is making a full recovery at the Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO).

After being struck by the cars, the dog—whose owner and identity are still unknown—was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic. Staff at the shelter confirmed that the dog has survived and is recovering under their care, despite the seriousness of the incidents.

In a public social media post, the VAO said that no dog should be allowed to recover from such terrible experience at the shelter and encouraged people to share the dog’s tale in the hopes of finding its owner.

According to New Jersey law, shelters must hold stray animals for seven days before releasing them for adoption in order to give their owners a chance to come forward. According to the VAO, they are still hopeful that someone is looking for the dog.

The VAO encourages anyone with information about the dog or its owner to get in touch with them immediately.
