Police dismantle illegal car rallies across Maryland, arrest three individuals

Laurel, M.D. Authorities said Wednesday that three people, including a minor, were arrested as a result of the Maryland automobile Rally Task Force (MCRTF) and partner law enforcement agencies’ concerted effort to dismantle and stop several illegal automobile rallies on New Year’s Eve.

The task force responded to a large-scale vehicle rally that was scheduled for December 31 from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. and was anticipated to attract participants from Maryland and surrounding states. The rally was targeted at locations throughout Prince George’s County and Baltimore, with the intention of involving road closures and exhibition driving in public streets, parking lots, and industrial areas.

Four unlawful exhibition driving events were successfully destroyed by MCRTF over the night, and five more demonstrations were stopped from organizing in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County.

According to a statement from the Maryland State Police, this operation was a concerted effort to uphold public safety and discourage unlawful and disruptive activity.

The identities of the people who were arrested and any information on the charges have not been made public by officials.
