Pennsylvania player wins $7 million Cash4Life top prize in historic first

Wind Gap, Pennsylvania The Pennsylvania Lottery said Monday that Northampton County had won the first-ever $1,000 daily for life Cash4Life top prize for the drawing on January 3.

The winning ticket, which was purchased at GIANT Food Stores on Male Road in Wind Gap, matched the green Cash Ball 1 as well as the five white balls 12, 25, 28, 47, and 55. The award offers a lump-sum cash option of $7 million, less applicable taxes, or a lifelong annuity of $365,000.

There will be a $10,000 incentive for the shop that sold the historic ticket. Winners have a year from the date of the drawing to claim their winnings, so the Pennsylvania Lottery encourages them to sign the back of their tickets and submit claims as soon as possible.

Pennsylvania has given out 17 second-tier $1 million awards since joining the multi-state Cash4Life game in 2015, but this is the first time the state has given out the game’s top prize. In Pennsylvania, the Jan. 3 drawing also produced prizes for over 4,800 more tickets.
