Florida Man Shot 12-year-old Standing Outside His Home; Apprehended by Pinellas County Deputies

A man is now facing multiple felony charges following an incident where he allegedly shot a 12-year-old boy while aiming at another individual, according to Pinellas County deputies.

As per the Sheriff’s Office, on Friday evening, Yancy Crowder, 31, took hold of a firearm from a residence on Verona Ave. in the Largo area.

According to the PCSO, Crowder allegedly discharged a firearm at a 31-year-old individual while they were leaving the scene. A bullet struck the boy, as reported by deputies, while he was standing in a front yard nearby.

A 12-year-old was struck in the shoulder and is currently in the process of recuperation.

PCS officials reported that Crowder fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement and was apprehended in Pasco County the following day.

Crowder informed Pinellas County deputies that he was present at the scene of the incident, but he denied possessing a firearm or being aware of any gunshots being discharged.

Crowder is facing serious charges including aggravated child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
