Suspect charged with first-degree murder after fatal Baltimore shooting

Baltimore, Maryland Police said Tuesday that a 28-year-old man has been taken into custody in relation to the shooting death of DeAngelo West, who was killed in the Eastern District last month.

The event happened in the 2400 block of East Preston Street on December 26 at around 3:29 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene of a shooting, they discovered 27-year-old West wounded by a gunshot. Three days later, on December 29, he passed away from his wounds after being taken to a hospital.

Maurice Prioleau was taken into custody by detectives on January 1 at a residence located in the 2600 block of Tyler Street. Prioleau was taken to the Central Booking Intake Facility after being charged with first-degree murder.

Although more information about the motive has not been made public, detectives concluded that Prioleau shot West dead during the incident.
