Migrant with Active ICE Detainer Arrested for Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment in Ocean County

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — On January 7, 2025, Ocean County resident Teofelo Reyes Lima was arrested on accusations of criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a minor. He is currently being held without bond.

Reyes Lima allegedly engaged in inappropriate sexual contact and endangered a child, according to the police. In connection with these accusations, he is additionally charged with attempting to commit another crime.

Along with these charges, Reyes Lima was also accused of providing law police with false information, but that accusation was dropped.

Reyes Lima has been placed under detainer by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which means that once his criminal case is concluded, he may be deported.

While the inquiry is ongoing, Reyes Lima is still being held at the Ocean County Jail.

The case serves as a reminder of the severe legal repercussions for offenses pertaining to child safety.
