Frederick, Maryland.A Montgomery Village man was taken into custody by Maryland State Police early Friday in relation to a Frederick County highway shooting.
Gerome Alexander Quigley Jr., 41, is charged with several firearm-related offenses, including using a prohibited high-capacity magazine in the commission of a felony and two counts of first- and second-degree attempted murder. In anticipation of a court appearance, he is being detained at the Frederick County Central Booking.
The unharmed victims said that at roughly 2:30 a.m., Quigley was driving a red GMC Yukon on westbound Route 340 near Jefferson when he was followed and shot at.
On the highway median, troopers found Quigley’s gray Volkswagen lodged in a snowbank. Quigley was taken into custody by officers upon observing indications of impairment.
According to investigators, Quigley and the victims had already met at the Country Hills Apartments in Frederick before the incident. At the intersection of Ballenger Center Drive and Ballenger Creek Pike, Quigley allegedly started firing at the victims’ car and kept shooting while he was chasing them.
The victim’s SUV had several bullet holes found by the police, including two shots inside the car and a broken driver’s window. Additionally, shot shells and a loaded 9mm handgun were discovered close to Quigley’s vehicle.
