At the California-Mexico border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials confiscated over 150 pounds of methamphetamine from a truck that was trying to enter the country. Only sophisticated technology and skilled canines could find the hidden medicines.
The Discovery: K9 Alert and Imaging Technology
A 46-year-old guy in a 2024 pickup truck drove up to the Calexico West Port of Entry on the evening of Sunday, January 5, 2025. When the driver arrived in the United States from Mexico, CBP inspectors first conducted a primary examination. The car was sent for a second inspection following the first one.
Officers used a CBP K9 unit to alert them to the truck’s rear driver’s side during the secondary check.
After that, abnormalities in the front passenger and back seats were discovered using non-intrusive imaging technology.
Following a physical check of the vehicle, officers found 11 foil-wrapped parcels concealed under the truck’s seats, floor, and fenders.
Massive Methamphetamine Seizure
The methamphetamine weighed 152.2 pounds in total. This was a major narcotics bust since the materials included in the shipments tested positive for methamphetamine.
The officers’ ongoing care and dedication to national security are demonstrated by this interception, according to Roque Caza, Area Port Director of Calexico.
