Newport News Police Department Unveils Custom Recruitment Vehicles Showcasing City Landmarks

NEWPORT NEWS, VirginiaFour specially created recruitment trucks have been unveiled by the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) in an effort to draw in new officers while honoring the city’s significant historical sites.

The distinctive designs of each of the recently unveiled cruisers highlight important facets of Newport News. One automobile shows the skyline of Newport News City Center, and another shows the famous Newport News Shipbuilding in the South Precinct, which is surrounded by an aircraft carrier at sunset.

The fourth cruiser features the NNPD Headquarters building, which the agency claims is one of the most exquisite police buildings in Virginia, while the third is adorned with colorful images of Newport News City Park, which stands in for the North Precinct.

The department’s new recruitment portal, JoinNNPD.com, and the Recruiting Division’s contact details are prominently shown in the designs.

According to Chief Steve Drew, this project not only shows our commitment to hiring the greatest candidates for our staff, but it also fits with our creative policing tactics and community outreach initiatives.

The striking cars are a part of NNPD’s larger initiative to engage the community and draw in qualified applicants to work in the city.
