Over two dozen states have chosen to block Title IX, resulting in almost 700 schools refusing to comply.
Furthermore, not only have 26 states taken measures to block the Title IX revisions implemented by the Biden-Harris administration, but hundreds of colleges in 48 states are also following suit.
The implementation of Biden’s revised Title IX rules, which aim to include sexual orientation in the definition of sexual discrimination, has been temporarily halted by injunction in 26 states. Additionally, around 700 schools will not be obligated to enforce these revisions for students who are affiliated with Young America’s Foundation or Female Athletes United, two of the groups involved in the lawsuit. The revisions to Title IX went into effect on Aug. 1, granting individuals who identify as female the right to use female spaces like bathrooms and locker rooms.
A group of 26 states, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alaska, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota, have filed a lawsuit against Biden’s Title IX rules, as reported by The Center Square.
According to Inside Higher Ed, a Kansas judge has issued an injunction that prevents Title IX revisions from being implemented in any American school where students are affiliated with Young America’s Foundation or Female Athletes United. This injunction affects schools in 48 states. This decision was upheld by the Supreme Court.
“YAF’s preliminary injunction stops the Department of Education from penalizing and endangering students with novel, illogical rules that would endanger both free speech and personal safety,” Young America’s Foundation Chief Communications Officer Spencer Brown said in an email to The Center Square.
“Now, students can speak the truth knowing the law is on their side – and that YAF will continue to fight until we get a final decision that permanently eliminates the Biden-Harris administration’s destructive rules.”
“Bold YAF activists are on the front lines of the battle for truth on campus, some of the most notable battles of the day being transgenderism and women’s safety. This lawsuit is a way for YAF to defend every student’s right to say what they believe – and more students are joining YAF every day as a result,” Brown said.
Based on a report from the Kansas case, it has been found that more than 670 colleges and universities have a chapter of Young America’s Foundation or Female Athletes United on their campus.
According to Inside Higher Ed, several schools are located in states that are not currently involved in lawsuits against the Biden administration regarding the regulations.
