Stafford, Virginia The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office received an automated crash notification of a collision near Staffordboro Boulevard and Woodstream Boulevard on Tuesday at around 6:23 p.m. A collision between a Nissan and a Volkswagen was discovered by first responders, and both cars were totaled. Interestingly, there were no reports of significant injuries.
The driver of the Nissan escaped the scene, but deputies interacted with the driver of the Volkswagen. According to reports, the Nissan driver fled in the direction of Stafford Market Place by exiting via the driver’s side window. Deputy Vaughn saw a man and a woman in the area; the man matched the suspect’s description, and the woman was angry about the state of her car, so he made an effort to get in touch.
The man—later identified as Stafford resident Bryant Berryman, 37—falsely claimed that the woman was operating a motor vehicle. Berryman resisted several attempts to get him to comply, thus OC spray was employed as a form of incarceration. On-scene Fire and Rescue personnel treated him after discovering that his driver’s license had been revoked.
Berryman was accused of a number of crimes, including driving while intoxicated, obstruction of justice, and felony hit-and-run.
