House fire in Gloucester Township displaces family of seven

New Jersey’s Gloucester Township. According to officials, a house fire on Lee Ann Drive in Gloucester Township’s Somerdale neighborhood on Sunday morning forced a family of seven to evacuate.

When police and fire departments arrived on the site at around 11:37 a.m., they saw smoke and flames emanating from the house’s second level. Before first responders came, all residents had safely left, according to the police.

To put out the fire, firefighters from several departments collaborated, including Gloucester Township Squad 88, Chews Landing Fire Department, and others from neighboring towns. The Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management and Inspira EMS also provided assistance on the scene.

Officials verified that a family pet, a cat, perished in the fire, but no residents or emergency personnel were hurt. The American Red Cross is providing aid to the displaced family.

The Chews Landing Fire Department Fire Marshal is still investigating the fire, but the cause does not seem suspicious.
